- Peel the cucumbers if they have a bitter taste, otherwise leave the peel on for extra color and flavor.
- Add the water, cucumbers, lime juice, and sweetener to the blender, starting with the smaller amount of agave or maple syrup.
- Once blended smooth, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer over a bowl or large measuring cup to separate pulp. use spoon to speed up straining.
- Taste the agua fresca and adjust the sweetness by adding more agave or syrup or more lime juice for extra tartness.
- Serve the agua fresca chilled, poured over ice cubes.
- Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 days, or freeze the drink into ice cubes or popsicles.
